This tema is about which papers the vehicle carries and when they stop being valid.
- The registration document authorises the vehicle to be driven, and a provisional authorisation from the Jefatura replaces it.
- The «ficha técnica» is legally the technical inspection card (certificate of characteristics for mopeds).
- You must carry it and show it to officers who ask.
- With a trailer up to 750 kg MMA you also carry its ITV card.
- The registration document loses its validity when the vehicle is de-registered.
- De-registration may be at the owner's request or because the vehicle is found unfit to drive.
Watch out: The registration document does not expire after 5 years or on a change of owner.

Certificate and validity
The registration document loses its validity when the vehicle is de-registered.
- De-registration may be at the owner's request or because the vehicle is found unfit to drive.
- Before a new type-approved vehicle is registered, the official certificate is issued by an EU manufacturer, an importer or their representatives.
- In other cases the Administration's bodies issue it.
