The exam asks what a car must carry: three things and not much else. Tell the car kit from the bus kit.
- Cars, mixed vehicles and lorries up to 3,500 kg carry the V-16, a reflective vest and a spare wheel or alternative.
- Vest: certified, CE-marked and to UNE-EN 471, at least class 2.
- Three-wheelers and quadricycles are excepted.
- Buses and vehicles over 3,500 kg also carry an approved extinguisher in working order.
- An expired, unserviced extinguisher fails the requirement even if it is in the vehicle.
Watch out: The first-aid kit is not on a car's compulsory list.

- A protective escort vehicle carries vests for the driver and for each assistant.
- Three-wheelers and quadricycles are excepted. The spare-bulb kit is not on the list.

Extinguisher and motorcycles
Buses, vehicles over 3,500 kg and combinations of vehicles, including a car with a trailer, also carry an approved extinguisher in working order.
- An expired, unserviced extinguisher fails the requirement even if it is in the vehicle.
- These vehicles are not expressly required to carry a spare wheel.
- Motorcycles carry a high-visibility reflective vest, but no V-16 and no spare wheel.
