What it means

«Peligro por la proximidad de uno o varios pasos para peatones» RD 465/2025, Annex I of the RGC (BOE-A-2025-12199), Spanish original.

It announces that at least one pedestrian crossing lies ahead. It is the advance warning: the crossing itself is marked by another sign, S-13.

Where you meet it

You see it before the crossing, for instance driving along a street. The same drawing changes its role with its shape: in a red triangle it announces people, in a blue square it locates the crossing (S-13).

What you must do

Approaching a crossing with no light or officer, arrive slowly: an unregulated crossing obliges you to arrive slowly, not to stop every time; you give way to the pedestrian and stop only if needed (RGC art. 46.1.b). The triangle does not share out priority, article 65 does.

Details that count

At a marked crossing the pedestrian has priority from the moment they step onto it, not only on reaching the middle of the carriageway, and neither the horn nor slowing down replaces the duty to give way (RGC art. 65.1.a). And do not forget that the triangle shares out no priorities: article 65 does that, and it also gives pedestrians priority when you turn into another road and when you cross a shoulder along which they walk.

What it is confused with

It is confused with S-13, «Location of a pedestrian crossing», and with P-20b, «Pedestrians». P-20a says «there is a crossing ahead»; S-13, blue and square, says «the crossing is here»; P-20b says «there are often people here», with no specific crossing.
