Text from the official catalogue of road signs, Annex I of the General Traffic Regulation (Royal Decree 465/2025), BOE page 79127. The official wording is in Spanish.

What it means

«Prohibición de acceso a ciclomotores. Igualmente prohíbe la entrada a vehículos para personas de movilidad reducida.» RD 465/2025, Annex I of the RGC (BOE-A-2025-12199), Spanish original.

The sign bans access to mopeds and, under the wording of RD 465/2025, also to vehicles for persons with reduced mobility. It no longer mentions light quadricycles, which did appear in the earlier wording.

Where you meet it

You see it at the entrance to a road closed to mopeds. It applies from where it stands, head-on and in your direction of travel, like the other no-entry signs (RGC art. 145.2.b).

What you must do

Do not enter with a moped or a vehicle for persons with reduced mobility. Do not mix up the moped with the motorcycle: the ban on motorcycles is a different sign, R-104. A moped has a design maximum speed of no more than 45 km/h and an engine of 50 cm³ or less, or 4 kW or less if electric (TRLSV Annex I, def. moped): a 125 cm³ motorcycle is outside it, and motorcycles have their own sign, R-104.

Details that count

The category no-entry signs form a series: R-101 closes the way to every kind of vehicle, R-102 to motor vehicles, R-104 to motorcycles and three-wheelers treated as motorcycles, R-105 to mopeds and R-107 to goods vehicles above the mass shown (RD 465/2025 catalogue). The law limits the effect to whoever meets the sign head-on, from where it stands (RGC art. 145.2.b).

What it is confused with

It is confused with R-102 and with R-104. R-102 bans access to motor vehicles, a category that in law does not include mopeds; R-104, to motorcycles; R-105, to mopeds. A 125 cm³ motorcycle is not a moped.
