Road sign R-307: No stopping or parking

What it means

«Prohibición de parada y estacionamiento en el lado de la calzada en que esté situada la señal. […]» RD 465/2025, Annex I of the RGC (BOE-A-2025-12199), Spanish original.

It closes stopping and parking at once on the side of the carriageway where it stands. Unless otherwise indicated, it begins at the vertical of the sign and ends at the nearest junction in your direction of travel. It covers stopping and not just parking, and that is the difference from R-308.

Where you meet it

You see it at the edge of the carriageway, and it affects only the side where it is placed, not the opposite side.

What you must do

Do not stop, not even to let a passenger out. If a panel gives a timetable, the ban is limited to those hours and does not apply outside them (RGC art. 137.2). And a halt imposed by traffic, such as waiting at a red light, is neither stopping nor parking: their bans do not apply to it (TRLSV Annex I, concepts 80-82).

Details that count

Mind the class. No stopping or parking belongs to the residual class of «other prohibition or restriction signs»: it does not close access to a category of vehicles like a no-entry ban, nor does it impose a mandatory rule of traffic (RGC art. 145.2.d).

What it is confused with

It is confused with R-308, «No parking». R-307 closes stopping and parking; R-308 closes only parking, and a brief stop to pick up or drop off people remains allowed. Parking is leaving the vehicle immobilised; stopping is a brief halt to get on or off.
