How to choose where to start

Before reading the guides, it helps to know two things: which language you want to sit the exam in, and which country your licence is from, if you already hold one. If you have never had a licence, the guide for your language explains your options for the theory test and how to practise the traffic terms, which is what costs most at the start. If you already drive on a licence from another country, look at the exchange first: in some cases you can swap it without sitting the theory test, and in others you still have to take the exam.

While you decide, you can practise without commitment. DrivingLingo offers a free DGT exam every day and the first full topics, and lets you study in Spanish or English. Each guide links to what you need and cites the official sources (DGT and BOE) so you can check the details before you book an appointment.
